| Staggering is part of what we do. We have a strait path and level ground, but for some reason we step on a rock, or twist an ankle just enough to get us off the trail. But, if we keep looking at the trail rather than the “oops,” we regain our path and go right on, often with new appreciation of how good the trail is.
BUMP!
It was a beautiful October day and everything was right with my life, including my faith in God. But, exceptions do happen, of course; and one was about to happen to me.
I had left home for a friend’s birthday celebration. I was just a few blocks into my journey when my car went “bump, bump!” I recognized that sickening sound. We’ve all heard it “Flat.” I told myself.
I stopped immediately next to the median, very distressed, I might add. As I starred in disbelief at my poor flat tire, a young man came running across the street to my rescue. He didn’t have his car, because he was out for his morning run. Neither one of us had a cell phone, to call for help, but he removed the flat tire.
As he was taking the spare tire from the trunk, which was also flat, a young lady stopped and offered help. She took my spare and had it filled. When she returned the young man mounted it to the wheel.
While I was thanking both of them for their kindness, our conversation turned to Christianity. They discovered they were both Christians, and both attended the same church, but had never met. So, I got my tire changed with little interruption, and with a lot of pleasantness. And two people got acquainted through and act of kindness.
Bumps can be delightful. God works in wondrous ways.
