The greatest problem with becoming an adult, I think, is that we forget our childhood simplicity— our fascination with the ordinary, and our ability to accept what comes our way. But most importantly, we loose that quality of trust that we can no longer even describe. It’s the same quality that makes Santa Clause believable—the absence of analyzing, testing and judging. It is the very core of innocence. And it is precious in the Lord’s sight. We understand that preciousness, when a tot grabs hold of a finger to walk with us. It can be seen in a baby’s gaze of wonder at things we barely notice.

Angie Brogan Gives us this example from her childhood. Perhaps it will help us understand what our Lord desires.

MY ARM AND MOTHER

We lived in a log cabin on the flat-lands of Indiana. I had a Godly mother and father who believed in divine healing.

One day when I was four years old, my brother and I were playing and he accidently sprained my right arm. Daddy came in from work and managed to get it in a sling. Oh, It was so painful! After dinner my oldest sister and I excused ourselves and went into the living room. She almost dared me to ask Jesus to heal my arm.

My reply was “I’m to afraid to ask Jesus to heal me.” Even so, I remember looking up in the little log cabin and saying, “Jesus, heal my arm!”

It was like lightning hit my arm. I threw the sling off, waving my arm. I looked toward the doorway and my daddy was standing there watching I said, “look, daddy, Jesus just healed my arm.” Tears were streaming down my daddy’s face as he rejoiced with me.

My mother had just given birth to my baby sister and was laying in the other room with pneumonia. The doctor expected her to die before morning. Well, the same Holy Spirit that healed my arm went into my mother’s bedroom and healed her. I can still see my little mother walking around that pot-belly strove praising God for his miraculous touch. The next day, our doctor was stunned to see her alive.

Jesus said, unless you become as a little child, you cannot enter the Kingdom of God. We need to maintain child-like faith and we will see many miracles.
